Our History

Worship services at Forest Hills United Baptist Church began in the basement on November 15, 1964 and moved to our current Worship Centre (i.e. Sanctuary) for Christmas services that same year. Our first baptism along with fourteen others was officiated by our first lead pastor, Rev. Myron Brinton, on January 3, 1965.

A few years later, we were in need of more space. In November of 1971, we opened the Christian Education Centre that provided additional classrooms and offices, and a gymnasium. As more people came to believe in Jesus, the congregation grew and we were in need of more space. In 1976, a portion of our Sunday School and Junior Worship moved to Forest Hills School. After a few years and by the generosity of many, our Worship Centre was expanded and more classroom space was built in 1983.

A notable number of baptismal celebrations took place in 1987 and 2005. In those years, around 25 people declared their faith in the waters of baptism!

The church opened its arms to care for the children of our community in 2002, when it opened Living Waters Child Development Centre, a non-profit, licensed daycare. Living Waters now operates at capacity and provides care for around 70 children. For over 20 years, our daycare kids have been learning that they are children of God, valued and loved.

We were happy to share our facilities and work together with the Saint John Global Mission Church that started ministering to Koreans in 2009.

Today, FHB Church continues to provide a wide range of care and services to meet the needs of our community, including various affinity groups, children and youth ministries, bible studies, newcomers and refugee support, worship services, deaf interpretation, community garden, local and global missions support, and much more.

We look forward to many more opportunities to connect people with Jesus and with each other!
